Week One

In my aquarium:

1. Genus: Stylonychia Class: Hypotrichia Phylum: Ciliophora

Found int he soil, they have a transparent, oval body with convex a cinvex top surface and a flat bottom surface. The bottom surface has a number of cirri for locomothion and three long prominent cilia at its posterior end. The move about the decaying material and dig in the soil. The fed on bacteria and algae.
2. Genus: Cocconeis Class: Pennales Phylum: Bacillariophyta
Found in Plant A, film often found on aquatic plants, green to goldish brown color
3. Genus: Euglena Phylum: Chlorophyta
Green colored, cylindrical shape. Flagella shorter than body, found in the soil.
*Other observations include: Not too much activity. The water is pretty calm compared to other classmates. The light green plant however seems to be growing. Tiny, thin green fibers are abundant throughout the aquarium.
